A chance to write to prompts in timed exercises, and to get the words flowing. Writing from Despair to Hope
"Against the ruin of the world, there is only one defence - the creative act”


In this workshop we will write and read words of consolation and comfort, and explore ways of offering ourselves - and others - permission to hope. The workshop will be facilitated by Pippa Marriott and you will be in an environment that is supportive and gives you space to create new writing.Places cost £22 (£17 WK friends) 

Tuesday 20th October 6.30pm – 9pm Open Mic at the Exeter Phoenix:

Autumn Leaves is our theme.Writers can interpret this literally as a prompt for writing about the season, the shift in the light, nature's changing colours, and patterns, or metaphorically. It can be an extract from a short story, a piece of nature writing, flash fiction or novel segment with an autumnal setting, or a fragment of memoir that's rekindled by the season and its sense of endings, and the approach of winter.


10 minute reading spots (maximum time including any introduction) and we would love you to book a ticket and reading spot. Poetry, prose, extracts or short stories (<800 words) All welcome! Email sidmouthdavid@outlook.com to book a spaceTickets: £6.00 (WK Friends - £3.00)
